Internal competitions for engineers and technicians (F/H)

Nearly 18,000 engineers and technicians (F/H) work in research and research support activities, or in administrative functions (in laboratories, regional delegations and at CNRS headquarters). Engineers and technicians (F/H) are also recruited through internal competitive examinations.

The internal competition is a means of internal promotion and, to a lesser extent, internal mobility for CNRS staff. It is a way of recognizing and rewarding the professional commitment of engineers and technicians.

Competition procedure

January to February: posting of offers and online registration.
March-April: eligibility phase (examination of applications by the jury).
April: admission phase (auditions for candidates declared eligible, in person at Gif-sur-Yvette, except in special cases).
May 1 : appointment and assumption of office.

The internal competitions are divided into two phases: eligibility and admission.

Eligibility and admission phase

The admissibility phase consists of the jury's examination of the applications. This is an essential phase in the competition process. The candidate's file provides an initial assessment of the application. It is the only element available to the jury to select the candidates who will be auditioned.
The jury examines the files of candidates admitted to the competition on the basis of the following criteria:

Skills: operational knowledge and know-how.
Responsibility and/or supervision: degree of initiative, degree of responsibility.
Involvement: commitment and investment in duties and in cross-functional functions or those of collective interest, ability to work as part of a team.
Career paths: career development, mobility, further training.

During the admission phase, the jury interviews the candidates selected during the eligibility phase. The jury's deliberations result in a list of successful candidates.
