Collective Crystal 2020: Research infrastructures in experimental ecology

December 23, 2022 - 10 min reading
Research infrastructures in experimental ecology

The experimental ecology stations, through innovative devices and tools, offer unique conditions for studying ecosystems. The Research Infrastructures in Experimental Ecology team participates in the development of cutting-edge research in global ecology on the understanding of ecosystems and their response to environmental variations.

The stations allow the acquisition of general and multidisciplinary knowledge on the study of the link between the dynamics, evolution and functioning of ecosystems and biodiversity. They are based on sophisticated conditioning cells, which allow the manipulation of semi-natural, aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems, or on the long-term monitoring of natural ecosystems.

Thanks to the complementary nature and unique know-how of the team in ecology and experimental engineering, major research projects have been carried out, such as those on the impacts of ecosystem fragmentation or the analysis of biodiversity from the ground to the canopy. These experimental facilities are integrated into the AnaEE-France (Analysis and Experimentation on Ecosystems) research infrastructure, the only infrastructure in France entirely dedicated to the study of continental ecosystems.

The collective crystal, a reward for research support teams for their innovative or remarkable collective project

Each year, the CNRS medals are awarded to researchers and staff who make an outstanding contribution to the institution's dynamism and reputation.

The collective crystal rewards teams of women and men, research support staff for their innovative or remarkable collective project.
