Recruitment of PhD students with disabilities

As a player in the training of researchers, the CNRS renews each year its offer of doctoral contracts for students with disabilities who wish to acquire additional training through research at the end of a postgraduate course. This training must lead to a thesis.

2023 Recruitment Campaign for Students with Disabilities

These contracts are specially financed as part of the implementation of the national integration policy for people with disabilities. They are intended to complete the existing global offer and are not exclusive of other types of training that may be granted to disabled students who have a thesis project within the framework of the financing of classic doctoral contracts.

The beneficiaries of these contracts are hosted, according to the rhythm of the academic year, in a research unit belonging to or associated with the CNRS. Doctoral contracts are awarded for a period of 3 years, and are conditional on the student's re-registration in the doctoral school each year. The amount of the remuneration is 2135 € gross monthly minimum. If the doctoral student is entrusted, in addition to his or her doctoral research activity, with a complementary activity (teaching for example), the amount of the remuneration will be higher.

The scheme is open to all research disciplines.

On the operational level, the selection campaign is placed under the responsibility of the Mission Insertion Handicap (MIH) : " drh-mih@cnrs.fr ".

Selection process

Interested candidates contact the laboratories directly; they apply with a research project of their choice within the limits of the scientific themes of the unit, in connection with the doctoral school of the host laboratory;
the laboratory directors interview the candidates in order to proceed with a possible application;
in collaboration with the laboratories, the candidates fill in the application form [PDF format] that can be downloaded from February 6, 2023 and send it either to the human resources department of the CNRS regional delegation to which the laboratory belongs, or directly to the Mission Insertion Handicap (by mail or directly by messenger);
the MIH has the applications examined by the institute managements, which select the beneficiaries of the contracts according to the admissibility of the projects and the quality of the applications.
It informs about the results of the expertise and the choice of the selected candidates.

2023 timeline of key milestones

February 6 at 12pm: Registration opens on the website
February 20 to May 19: Unit auditions
May 22 at 12pm: Closing date for applications
July 3: Deadline for SRSE to forward applications to institutes
July 3 to July 17: Evaluation by institutes and transmission to SRSE of successful candidates
End of July: Notification to admitted and non-admitted candidates
October 1: Start of contracts

Requirements:

• hold a master's degree or equivalent allowing registration in a doctoral school;
• not to have already started his thesis;
• be a beneficiary of a proof of his or her status as a beneficiary of the employment obligation;
• no nationality requirement.

Doctoral students with disabilities, whether they are recruited by the CNRS through this campaign or through another means, may benefit from an adjustment of their workstation or their working conditions, subject to the recommendations of a prevention doctor.
